Our course structure at Sacred
Heart is designed to emphasise the basics of education
as well as to give students opportunities to explore
and develop their individual interests and talents.
CURRICULUM
It is a balanced programme concentrating more on core
subjects in Year 9 and 10 and opening up the range of
options as the students progress through the school.
We are confident that after five years our students
leave well equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities
of tertiary education.
We are fortunate to have well qualified and experienced
teachers in every curriculum area complimented by modern,
well-equipped facilities. Our concentration on literacy
and numeracy in the junior school is supported by specialist
help for those with learning difficulties and a programme
of extension for students where appropriate. Wide reading
is encouraged and the Marian Library has an excellent
collection of books for research and recreation.
Confidence in speaking has been fostered through our
Oral Communication programme, speech competitions and
the students’ involvement in the presentation
of prayers and liturgies. Involvement in English, Maths
and Science competitions both national and international
help to improve the standards in those areas of the
curriculum.
In the senior school we are well positioned for our
students to take advantage of national qualifications.
Our students have every opportunity to compile a record
of achievement that equips them for tertiary education
or the workforce.
