INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The College particularly values the international atmosphere
created by its students from many countries. A well-established
exchange programme with Hikarigaoka Girls’ High
School in Japan has been in place for over ten years
and students from a variety of other exchanges join
our school during their stay in New Zealand.

The College also hosts fee-paying students from a wide
variety of countries. Individual programmes are organised
to maximise the benefits of their study. The number
of students from each country is limited so that social
interaction in spoken English is promoted. The Oral
Communication programme within the College’s English
curriculum ensures many opportunities for students to
gain confidence and experience in public speaking.
Sacred Heart College has agreed to observe and be bound
by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International
Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies
of the Code are available on request from Sacred Heart
College or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education
website at http://www.minedu.govt.nz.
We have excellent homestay families who enjoy hosting overseas students
in a safe environment. Most of our international students
who have remained in New Zealand have continued on to
university study.
